What’s up everyone!
Every time I bump into someone that hasn’t seen me since I got back exactly one month ago, they ask “oh are you back?” I think that’s one of the funniest unintentionally dumb questions asked. I know it’s kind of what you say when someone is back from a long trip or hiatus, but still, funny. I have been back for a month and have been holding back from writing an update because I wanted to come up with the best words to express everything I felt, and am feeling since my return to normality. Many people say that when one travels, it almost always is a life changing experience. When I told everyone about this trip to Mexico for my residency almost everyone said that I will come back different, my life will change, etc. Honestly, I don’t feel that Mexico did much more than any other place I may have traveled, or if I was in NYC doing a residency. What I did learn was different from what I have learned in my life so far. I haven’t changed, but I did gain some interesting knowledge that I can use in my personal life and my professional life, and I am super grateful for that. I can’t thank everyone enough for the crazy amount of support from family, friends and even strangers.
I took thousands of photos throughout the 42 days in Mexico, and I am still sorting through them, editing my favorite ones, and preparing them for an exhibit which I will share details about soon hopefully. There were many types of photos taken, from portraits to landscapes, city life to animal life, and everything in between. I was immensely disappointed in the fact that amazon did not ship my drone camera in time for my trip, and by the time I got it I was well into the residency and was too late to get it down to Mexico, so of course I did not get to use it. The good news is that as soon as I got back I got my hands on it and within two days got a little experience with it and made this fun video.
Now, I know a lot of people have been waiting to see the results, and more importantly, their perks! I have some of the perks like the postcards and photos, but I am waiting to go through all the images and put together the book which I will ship along with everyone’s perks. Sorry for the delay, but in the meantime you can enjoy these following photos and hit me up anytime with any questions.
See you around the hood!
